I apologize for not blogging lately but I have not had much time between training, work and my computer being on the blink. Tony’s camp for the Ruiz fight has been very productive and positive. He’s been a real joy to work with. Tony’s looking as good as ever, preparing with a handful of young up and comers from Santa fe and Albuquerque, who gave Tony some great work along with his main sparring partners Charlie Villa and Danny Gonzalez. Also training Tony is mitt man Carlos Campos and my right had guy, Moose Gomez.
I’ve worked on Tony’s defense and basic fundamentals, foot positioning, balance, keeping the hands up, head movement etc... Tony is a work-a-holic and has drilled on this stuff during our gym time, plus a couple of hours more in the evening when he goes back into the gym. I feel with this dedication we’ll see a deference in his defensive skills and overall performance.
Physically he’s in tremendous condition, coming in at 127.2, without any struggle!
It’s been a real pleasure working with Tony and feel will have a positive outcome tonight.
Thank you New Mexico and El Paso for the help in Tony’s preparation and your sincere support.
